A golf trip
This trip offers a lot of fine golf courses close to our Coutryside Hotles. After golf you may soften up those sore muscles in a bubble bath or with some massage. There will be time for some wine- or apple tasting, Swedish homely fare or a French gourmet dinner. End the day in a comfortable bed in our wonderful hotels and wake up to a new day with new golf courses to explore.
Häckeberga Castle, Genarp
This Castle, located in the south of Sweden, is the first place we visit. The present castle was build 1872-75 but the history of Häckeberga Castel starts at the 1300’s. 1997 it opened up for restaurant- and conference guests and today, Bo and Gunilla Madsen are the administrators.
There is only need for one word if you want to describe Häckeberga Castle – harmony!
A stay here is a wise investment for both your soul and your relationship. We have booked a golf package witch includes green-fee at Romeleåsens Golf Club. It’s located just 10 minutes from Häckeberga Castle. It is a golf course with 18 holes which is famous for its beauty and hilly terrain. The staff at Häckeberga will help you to book a start time at the Golf Club.
This package also include a stay in a double room , a drink before supper, a four-course menu and a breakfast buffet. If we decide to stay for two days there will be time for a visit at Mackmyra Swedish Whiskey. A interesting whiskey tasting is possible if booked in advance.
Häckeberga Castle, Genarp – Idala Gård, Trelleborg (40 minutes, 40 km)
After a short trip, we arrive at Idala Gård. Where this southern part of Sweden, called Skåne present a very typical flat landscape, we are about to experience a small piece of Italy. Idala Gård cooperates with four different golf courses, Trelleborg GK, Tegelberga, Söderslätt and Vellinge. You may book a “Golf and Gourmet-package”. Every evening we enjoy the lovely Italian cuisine. We may also buy something at the farm- or the wine shop. And after four intensive days of golf there is hopefully time for a much needed massage.
Idala Gård, Trelleborg – Tomarp Gårdshotell, Kristianstad (2h, 130 km)
This day starts with a short drive to Bosjökloster golf course. This course is designed by Douglas Braiser and was inaugurated 1974. It’s located between two lakes, a very beautiful part of Skåne. After lunch at the golf restaurant we continue our trip.
The forest surrounding Tomarp gårdshotell offers you a relaxing outdoor experience and the staff will do their best to make our stay as comfortable as possible.
The focus here is on food. The local farmers provide the ingredients and the idea is to give the guests a stay filled with pleasure and inspiration.
The rooms are individually decorated and after a good night sleep a Swedish breakfast buffet are waiting for us.
Tomarp Gårdshotell, Kristianstad – Halltorp Gästgiveri, Borgholm (2h 40 min, 220 km)
Halltorp Gästgiveri is located in the center of the beautiful island called Öland. Here the rooms are cozy, the lounges are comfortable with five fire places and a nice relaxation department that offers spa treatments.
Seven golf courses are located on Öland. The closest one to our hotel (just 1 km) is Ekerum golf course. (For more information, please visit www.golfensoland.com)
Halltorp restaurant is well known for the well-cooked food with first class ingredients.
Halltorp Gårdshotell, Borgholm – Möckelsnäs mansion, Diö (2h 45 min, 188km)
Möckelsnäs mansion is located at the Möckeln lake and with a lush deciduous forest close by.
The golf package includes green-fee at Älmhult Gold Club, o lovely room for the night, a three-course dinner and breakfast. If you want, there is a possibility to book a four-course dinner and a whiskey tasting.
The rooms are pleasant with extra comfortable, thick mattrasses. And if you want to skip the golf for a day, we recommend a visit at the Carl von Linné orangery and study center or the Råshult park.
Möcklenäs Mansion, Diö – Villa Gransholm, Gemla (45 min, 48 km)
Right between the cities Växjö and Alvesta we find Villa Gransholm. It is a small hotel with only 13 rooms which ensures a personal experience. This villa used to be the home of the manager at the Gransholm mill. The beautiful lounges and dining rooms have a lovely view over the park and the tennis course.
Villa Gransholm offers a golf package together with Avesta Golf club. Beside the stay at the hotel, the package includes green-fee, a three-course dinner and breakfast. There is also a possibility to play at the Glasrikets Golf Club or Växjö Golf Club for an additional surcharge.
The owner of this small hotel will make sure we are well taken care of and that the food is of a high standard with a lot of organic, locally produced ingredients.
Villa Gransholm, Gemla – Mauritzberg Castle, Vikbolandet (4 h 295 km)
We continue our trip north and the next stop is Maruitzberg Castle. Here we find a unique Golf and Sea resort. It’s a castle hotel with a 400 years old history combined with modern comfort. Mauritzberg have a its own golf course and it’s a wonderful experience to play next to the shimmering water of the Baltic sea and to see the castle towering in the horizon, next to shady oak groves. Maritzberg golf course has an alternating character for each golf hole. An extra lesson from a skilled golf teacher is also offered.
The hotel only has 16 rooms, so you may want to make a reservation well in advance. We can choose to stay in a room overlooking the sea or the calm park. When it’s time for dinner the castle restaurant both serve gourmet-style culinary delights as well as traditional Swedish home-style dishes.
Marutizberg Castle, Vikbolandet – Bjertorps Castle, Kvänum (3h 30min, 292 km)
The final stage of our golf trip is Bjertorp Castle. This is the youngest Swedish jugend-castle, build in 1914 and designed by one of the great architects of that time, Fredrik Boberg.
The golf course close to the hotel has received rewards for being the best golf course in this part of Sweden four years in a row. Only 500 meters separate the hotel from the first tee and the Golf Club. The golf-package includes green-fee at Vara-Bjertorp GK, a welcome-coffee with home baked pastries, a five-course castle dinner, a stay in the hotel and a castle breakfast. It’s possible to stay an additional night for a favorable price, and this is the kind of place were you just might want to take that offer.
