Bjertorp Castle is a beautiful gem on the Varaslätten in Västergötland.
When you enter inside the oak gate, you are inspired and enjoy personal service, attention-grabbing gastronomy and an exciting history that permeates the entire castle. At Bjertorp Castle, storytelling is experienced for real, all hotel rooms and suites are designed based on the castle’s history and each describes its own eventful chapter. Live with us is one of Bjertorp’s entertaining activities where the chefs perform on stage and show off their skills for the participants to enjoy and then go home and try for themselves.
Outside the castle’s doors, beautiful cycle paths await, perhaps a hunting round, one of Sweden’s most beautiful golf courses, Vara-Bjertorp GK. Here, guests combine the game of golf with castle dinners or gourmet golf schools where the club’s pro and national team coach teach the secrets.

Cycle
Beautiful cycle paths await outside the castle gate and 10 minutes further Kvänum’s MTB track. The combination of beautiful nature, varied cycling routes and our package proposals with food and accommodation create the best cycling holiday.
Sivans osthandel
In a garage in Västgötska’s Varaslätten there is a heaven for all cheese lovers! Here, Sivan and her family store their cheeses, which have been appreciated by restaurateurs and politicians alike. Sivan has received several awards for its unique knowledge of storing cheese. Only 20 minutes from the castle.
Qvänum Mat & Malt
Six kilometers from Bjertorp Castle is Gategården. Here is the local craft brewery Qvänum Mat & Malt, which produces beer and spirits. Here you can book a study visit with beer tasting where you learn more about the production and history of beer.
Lake Hornborga
One of Europe’s most important bird lakes located in a fantastic natural and cultural landscape that unites Skövde, Skara and Falköping. Here there is much to experience all year round. Hike, cycle, eat locally produced food, visit historic sites and enjoy nature in all seasons. Hornborgasjön is about 40 minutes by car from Bjertorp Castle.

Paddle along the Flian river that flows from Hornborgasjön and further into the Lidan river. It’s like a fairy tale world here. Head upstream for an easier paddle and for a bit more excitement you can also paddle downstream. When renting a canoe, you can also order transport back to the starting point.
Spiken’s fishing port
Ten minutes from Läckö Castle, on Lake Vänern, you will find Spiken’s fishing harbour, which is one of Europe’s largest lake harbours. Here, the smokers go full blast all day and serve you steaming fresh fish, lake fish and fine roe from the whitefish. Stroll around and enjoy the good food and look into the craft hops, with the water ever present.
Bilkompaniet i Tråvad
Interested in exclusive cars of which there are only a few in the whole world? Then Bilkompaniet in Tråvad is well worth a visit. It was founded in 1993 by Svante Andersson and is today run by his son Ludwig Ellhage. They specialize in sports cars, luxury cars and enthusiast cars with customers from all over Europe. Bilkompaniet in Tråvad is about 10 minutes by car from the castle.
Tråvadsbadet
Swim in the river Lidan and enjoy the good Italian ice cream that is available for purchase at the ice cream cafe by the swimming area. You can also go to Oltorp’s outdoor area, where there is a small bathing lake in a scenic setting.
Vara småstad
Stroll around the small town of Vara to visit smaller local shops and restaurants. We can warmly recommend a visit to award-winning Nordpoolen Conditori and Sivan’s cheese.
