Storsätra Mountain Hotel makes exploring the wild a little more civilised. Each room is equipped with comfortable beds and bedding, sitting area, TV, wireless internet, and toilet and shower. Chances are you won’t spend much time in your room—sitting by the open fire in the lodge or relaxing in the outdoor sauna, soothed by the bubbling Grövlan river, will likely be more tempting. But at the end of a day in the mountains, a comfortable night’s sleep is just the thing.
The Grövlan river runs right outside the hotel—hardier souls can enjoy its crystal clean waters, just like guests had to in the old days. But on its banks you’ll also find a traditional sauna and wood-fired hot tub. Enjoy a quick spirit recharge before dinner, or get lost in an ache-melting soak with the soothing whispers of the river in the background. Storsätra mountain hotel in is the north of the Dalarna province of Sweden, close to the Norwegian border. It’s a fairly straightforward drive, but you can also get here by public transport or train. The bus from Mora, which is a relatively central public transport hub, stops about 10 metres from reception.

“An incredibly cozy hotel in beautiful Grövelsjöfjällen on the border with Norway. You come here to do day hikes in the easy hiking Grövelsjöfjällen, outside these pandemic times, there are also incredibly beautiful hikes to do into Norway.
There are also rooms allowed for us who travel with a dog 🐶
