Sundbyholm Castle is an easily accessible 4-star hotel and castle restaurant in the heart of Mälardalen, one mile north of Eskilstuna and about an hour’s drive from Stockholm city. In the beautiful surroundings, Malaren’s longest natural sandy beach, Europe’s northernmost beech forest and an award-winning marina, are found. Close by is also Sundbyholm’s horse racetrack.

Sundbyholm Castle offers different company meeting packages as well as wedding packages and a variety of weekend packages are offered. Here you can enjoy a Wine Tasting Weekend, a Champagne Tasting Weekend, a weekend with an interactive Murder Play (in Swedish) as well as variety of romantic weekends where a four-course dinner is enjoyed at the castle by white tablecloths and light candles. Traditional events like Valborg, Midsummer and New Year are celebrated and from the end of November the castle’s big Christmas buffet opens.
The hotel rooms at the castle
Here at Sundbyholm Castle you will find several different categories of hotel rooms, spread over different buildings from the 17th century to the 20th century. The smaller double rooms have air conditioning, newly renovated bathrooms and in most cases also lake views, the standard double rooms are slightly larger and are found in different buildings in the castle area while the junior suites also have separate living rooms and are located in different small houses in a park next to other hotel buildings.
Lastly, there are also the beautiful mansion suites with whirlpool tubs and the spa suites with both whirlpool hot tubs and saunas in their bathrooms. At the castle there is a restaurant, banquet halls and a breakfast room. There is no accommodation in the castle building.
The castle restaurant
In the castle restaurant you can eat good food and at the same time enjoy the nice castle environment with a view of the lake. The menu is largely seasonal and almost everything is cooked from scratch in the castle kitchen or baked in the castle pastry shop.
During the winter season, there are tasty Christmas dinners and, on certain occasions, popular and exciting murder mysteries. The castle also offers afternoon tea with treats baked by the castle’s own confectioners.

Find Sundbyholms Castle
Whether you come from east (Stockholm) or west (Örebro) you travel on the E20.
At the main exit to Eskilstuna, take off north – already from the E20 it is signposted Sundbyholm.
NOTE! Do not get off early, at any of the eastern or western exits of the E20 (which may happen if you follow a GPS that takes you to small roads). Wait until you see the sign “Sundbyholm” directly on the E20.

The service was wonderful no matter who you talked to, but especially at dinner. The sauna suite is great, with a very nice sauna / spatula and bed that was pure dream! The breakfast was served only for the two of us, which felt extra luxurious. And the weather gilded our stay extra and allowed us to enjoy the sun on the terrace that belonged to the suite. Highly recommended and we will return!”

Activities around and near the hotel

Cycle
The bikes are included in the hotel’s bike package and can also be rented separately as an activity as long as you are an overnight guest. A map with a description of various sights is included in the bike rental.
Dock boat
Rent a motorized dock boat in Sundbyholm’s marina for a trip along the Ramsundsån up to the Sigurdsristningen. If the wind is calm, you can also take a trip on Mälaren along the beach strip.
Canoe
A good way to enhance your stay is to rent a canoe for an excursion along Mälaren’s shoreline. On site there are 6 Osagian canoes in 100% aluminum each with two seats for two adults per canoe.
Hot spa hot tub
The hotel’s hot spa baths (whirlpools) are centrally located in the middle of the chalets with family rooms. The temperature is between 37 and 40 degrees.
Sauna
On the lower level of the hotel building is a sauna, which, subject to availability, can be used freely by hotel guests.

Welcome to play and relax! If you want beer, wine or cider to go with the billiards, you can buy it at the reception.
