Countryside Hotels was founded in 1983 and now consists of approximately 38 independent, privately owned hotels from Skåne in the south to Hälsingland in the north. Among them you can find historic, romantic and authentic hotels in ancient castles, stately manors, gorgeous boutique hotels, charming inns and cosy guest houses.
Our mission is to market the hotels’ weekend packages and offers to individual travellers and groups within the leisure travel segment, both within and outside of Sweden.

Countryside Hotels is jointly owned by the affiliated member properties and is the oldest association of privately owned hotels of its kind in Sweden. Ever since the organization was founded in 1983, our purpose has been to serve as a guide to the Swedish countryside and tell the story behind all our historic properties and sites, which all represent a precious piece of our mutual history and heritage.
Two employees based in Gothenburg and Stockholm handle marketing, sales and finances, and report to a board of directors composed of renowned names in the Swedish hotel and tourism industry.
Countryside Hotels was founded in 1983 by a couple of enthusiasts in collaboration with organizations such as the Swedish Tourist Council and the Swedish Hotel and Restaurant Owners (Visita) in order to create a platform for privately owned hotels in the countryside to market themselves, both in Sweden and abroad. This is a mission we continue to manage and develop to this day, 30 years later. The company has its headquarters in Gothenburg.

Our ambition is to be Sweden’s leading, innovative, member-owned hotel group for privately owned hotels with a personal touch and quality historic environments.
We believe we achieve this by carefully selecting our hotels. Our castles, manors, villas, inns & guest houses are all unique, offering environments and buildings that have their own soul and an interesting story to tell. No hotels are alike but all of them have one thing in common, personal and caring service.
Our award-winning kitchens are among the best restaurants you can find in Sweden with the ambition to preserve and develop traditions. Local produce and proximity to our suppliers is something that is important to us. We truly believe in words like tradition, values, personality and sustainability.
Today Countryside Hotels has about 38 hotels in Sweden, spread across the most beautiful regions this country has to offer. By a beautiful lake, on a mountain slope, in a national park, by a golf course, by the beach, in a picturesque fishing village, on the banks of a river…
